Crisis & Consequences
Crisis & Consequences is a true crime podcast with a purpose, where we step out of our daily lives and dive into murder stories and the complicated humans behind them.
Hosted by Charity Doyle, each episode blends storytelling, dark humor, and real conversation — because sometimes the best way to understand crisis is by getting lost in a really good crime story.
All proceeds support OneHeart’s mission to empower people to overcome crisis and achieve self-sustainability.

Charity Doyle tackles life’s challenges and lifts hearts with equal measures of grit, grace, and big ideas. Engineer by training and leader by nature, Charity didn’t just help create OneHeart—she project-managed it into existence, then became its first CEO, steering the mission of empowering people to overcome crisis and achieve self-sustainability.
When she’s not strengthening communities, Charity is founding ventures like FOQUS, a smarter hiring platform that helps employers and jobseekers cut through the noise. Her career reads like a “let’s make things better” playlist, from tutoring youth in detention programs to serving on executive boards across health, professional student life, and entertainment sectors.
In the Crisis & Consequences studio, Charity brings the heart, humor, and curiosity that make even the darkest true crime stories engaging. She balances big laughs with thoughtful insights, helping listeners understand the human complexities behind crime while staying connected to the show’s mission of purpose-driven impact. With Charity at the mic, expect honesty, energy, and a podcast that’s anything but ordinary.

Karabeth “KB” joins the Crisis & Consequences podcast studio alongside Charity to explore the dark, twisted, and sometimes downright baffling stories of human behavior—with heart, humor, and a healthy dose of curiosity.
KB wears many hats (and sometimes a headset): she’s the Brand & Marketing Director for OneHeart and its family of mission-driven ventures—including this podcast, HomeBrew Coffee Shop, and FOQUS, a smarter hiring platform. Since day one, she’s helped shape OneHeart’s voice, share its impact, and spotlight the resilience of the people it serves.
Known for her quick wit, thoughtful creativity, and talent for finding humor in the darkest corners, KB brings a light touch to heavy stories. She’s here to ask the questions, offer perspective, and keep the conversation engaging—sometimes funny, sometimes haunting, but always real.

The saying goes: Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me. Not so, Escape Artists, not so – as proven by today’s episode in which a teen girl’s text messages are used against her as she faces charges in her friend’s tragic death. What does this case tell us about the power of influence in the digital age? And where does the First Amendment fit in? The co-hosts debate and discuss it all in this edition of The Escape Pod.

In a recent Escape Bite, the ladies of The Escape Pod got a little freaked out by the use of AI deepfakes to con an employee at an international company out of millions of dollars. (Turns out, the “people” on the video conference call were not people at all.) In this mini-sode, the co-hosts take a turn toward the positive, offering up real examples of the use of artificial intelligence to actually fight crimes – not just commit them.

The Escape Pod travels back in time to delve into the fascinating and often perilous history of arsenic – not in the committing of crimes, but in the creation of artwork. This episode is a classic case of the human race “living and learning” from past mistakes, so tune in as we unravel the stories of beauty intertwined with toxicity, where the allure of brilliant colors comes at a dire price.

Artificial intelligence, like any technology, has its pros and cons. It can predict words before this writer even thinks of them. Helpful? Sometimes yes. But in this Escape Bite mini-sode, the co-hosts get down-right freaked out by a case of true crime in which AI deepfakes caused an international company to lose millions.

He is proof that a person’s past does not have to define their future. Mayor Jason Salamun’s mother struggled with addiction. His parents divorced when he was young, and after that, the family’s housing ranged from none at all to crack houses and trailer parks. But his grandparents’ home was safe and loving, and with their encouragement he escaped his challenging childhood, moved to South Dakota to live with his father, and – eventually – entered local politics. We conclude our conversation with the mayor in this edition of The Escape Pod.

No “silver spoon” to speak of in this politician’s background. No – Jason Salamun, now Mayor Salamun, was born in West Texas to teen parents, including a mother who struggled with addiction. His childhood was fraught with instability. But his grandparents were a “lifeline,” and a combination of their love and a new life with his father in South Dakota changed everything. Mayor Salamun escaped a challenging childhood and eventually reached city hall. We hear more about his tumultuous youth and the move that made all the difference in the first of a two-part conversation with the mayor on The Escape Pod.
